Brickwork & Pointing in South London and Westminster
Stonebeauty provides brickwork and pointing for homes across South London and Westminster, from repointing a single wall to brick repairs, new brickwork and rendering. One experienced team handles the work from first inspection to finished wall
What is pointing?
Pointing is the mortar between your bricks. Over time it can crumble, crack or wash out, letting water into the wall and causing damp. Repointing means raking out the old mortar and replacing it with new, which protects the brickwork and smartens the look of your home.
Our Brickwork & Pointing Services
Repointing: raking out and replacing worn or crumbling mortar
Lime mortar repointing: for older and period properties, where lime lets the walls breathe

Do I Need Permission?
Most repointing and like-for-like brick repairs don't need planning permission. Listed buildings and homes in conservation areas may need consent, and may need specific mortar or matching bricks. We'll tell you what applies to your property.

Brickwork & Pointing FAQs
How do I know if my house needs repointing?
Signs include crumbling or missing mortar, gaps between bricks, damp patches on inside walls, and mortar that's softer than the bricks. We'll inspect it and tell you honestly whether it needs doing.
Should my house be repointed with lime or cement mortar?
Older properties, especially those built before around 1920, were usually built with lime mortar and should be repointed with lime. Using hard cement mortar on soft old bricks can trap moisture and damage them. We'll recommend the right mortar for your home.
Can you match my existing bricks and mortar?
We match bricks and mortar colour as closely as possible, using reclaimed bricks where needed.
Do you need scaffolding?
For anything above ground floor level, usually yes. We'll include access and scaffolding in your estimate.
Is it better to repoint in a certain season?
Mortar needs to set without frost or heavy rain, so we plan the work around the weather.
